Located half way down the mediterranean coastline of Spain, Valencia is on the Costa Blanca. This city is the third largest in Spain and is known for its urban renewal contrast with its untouched historical sites. The weather is ideal (mild winters with warm summers). It is known as the “land of flowers, music and love” There are numerous places to enjoy the wonderful weather with all kinds of outdoor activities. Valencia is blessed with numerous parks and gardens, areas that beautify the urban landscape and provide a location for friends to gather, relax and enjoy the sunshine. The Maritime Promenade stretches out next to the main beaches of Malvarrosa and the Arenas, which are full of restaurant in old traditional fisherman’s houses. A must place to enjoy the Mediterranean breeze and sun. Valencia was first occupied by the Iberians and later colonized by Greek and Carthaginian traders. Performances are still acted out in the Roman amphitheater of Sagunto built nearly 2000 years ago. Valencia was the economic and cultural capital of the Mediterranean in the 14th and 15th centuries. This history is captured through ancient Roman ruins and Moorish as well as Gothic architecture in the city’s old quarters. The most famous fiesta is The Fallas (St. Joseph’s day on March 19th). Two weeks of celebration with the largest display of papier-machę monuments (over 300), music, parades, fireworks, paellas,... An undescribable experience. We can also enjoy the new remarkable Arts and Science Center. A state-of-the-art arquitectural and entertainment complex. And we can also enjoy one of the best Race Tracks in Europe, Thr Cheste Circuit. If you are fond of sailing Valencia will hold the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007 due to Valencian fondness of this sport. |
